‘Save me’ symbolises the high and elated point on the record. We wanted it to feel like this upbeat Strokesy type tune that lyrically is completely contradictory to the sounds coming through the speakers. Lyrically it’s one of the most downtrodden tunes I’ve ever written, but putting that in amongst lush sounds that make you want to move seems to make it all ok.

The ‘Save Me’ Single comes with a b-side from recording Kings Canyon, ‘Leave Me Darling.’

Ernest Ellis & The Panamas would like to announce a national tour to mark the release of their sophmore LP, Kings Canyon, due for release September 23rd 2011.

The band have been working hard over the past three years, gathering a dedicated fan base thanks to their consistent delivery of solid live shows and support slots for the likes of Florence and The Machine, Jamie T, Pajama Club (Neil Finn) and The Jezabels.

Kings Canyon is the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2010 debut, Hunting.

Sydney post punk outfit Nantes will join the band for most of the shows. Another Triple J Unearthed favourite, they have been getting loads of radio love with their single Fly.

Kings Canyon is in store September 23rd independently through Antelope Recordings and Inertia.

So once again we have recorded too many songs to fit onto one record, unless it was going to be a 3 CD opus. And so we will be doing our b-sides give away again for our mailing list members.

This is one of the best tunes I’ve written and we would’ve loved to put it on there but it just didn’t quite fit. Hope you enjoy.
Ernest Ellis & The Panamas

The first single from the sophomore album from Ernest Ellis & The Panamas is called ‘Great Sky’ and according to the band it’s the song they’ve always wanted to record. It’s huge, blissful, heartbreaking and at the same time optimistic.

Apparently ‘Great Sky’ is indicative of the type of album we can expect later this year, and if that’s the case 2011 is set to be special year for Ernest Ellis & The Panamas.

So my new single titled ‘Want For Anything’, taken from my debut album ‘Hunting’, is out to radio on Monday. It’s a clattering of the brain, an upbeat number, and a way for you to dance and still feel sentimental. For me this song seems to somehow tie together a lot of the feeling behind this album. We’ll have a video for you very soon as well.

So we are hitting the road starting next Thursday 1st July with our hometown show at the Oxford Art Factory. These upcoming shows are without doubt our most important ones to date and we would love you to stroll down and help us celebrate the release of our debut album, ‘Hunting’. It has been a long time coming, but the album is finally here and we are looking forward to bringing it to you live on our first headlining tour of the east coast which will take us all the way to Splendour in the Grass at the end of July.

Also, after next Thursday’s OAF show we will be having a post show drink over the road at the Gaslight and we’d love for you to join us.
